Biography
Martin Hartley specialises in documenting the most inaccessible parts of the planet. His sustained commitment to capture the beauty of unadulterated landscapes and remote communities has taken him to some of the most isolated and challenging locations in the world.
Martin first gained public recognition at the age of 17 as Runner-Up in the Young Wildlife Photographer of The Year 1987 and has worked as a professional photographer ever since. He honed his technical abilities as scientific photographer at the UK Atomic Energy Authority and British Nuclear Fuels and his reputation for medium-format photography in wild places has earned him numerous adventure travel assignments and invitations as expedition photographer. His work has been published worldwide in international press and journals. Recent commissions include Vanco Arctic Survey and Brazilian Beaches for National Geographic Traveler magazine.
"Hartley's capacity to capture powerful geographical imagery in the most difficult of conditions, has become his hallmark...making him one of the leading geographical photographers of our day."
